Acupuncture in Wokingham
Acupuncture Wokingham is based at the Wokingham Therapy Clinic, 49 Denmark Street, Wokingham, and is run by experienced acupuncturist Dr (TCM) Attilio D'Alberto. The clinic is one of only a small number in the UK to practise full Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture.
What is TCM acupuncture?
Most acupuncture practised in the UK is based on classic five-element acupuncture, centred around the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. TCM acupuncture is different — it combines traditional Chinese acupuncture theory, including the concept of Qi (pronounced 'Chi' — meaning life force), with evidence-informed Western medical understanding. This integration makes TCM acupuncture both scientifically grounded and clinically effective.
TCM acupuncture can be used as a complementary therapy to treat a wide range of physical and emotional conditions, including chronic pain, fertility problems, anxiety, depression and irritable bowel syndrome. All treatments at Acupuncture Wokingham are carried out personally by Dr (TCM) D'Alberto and form part of a holistic care plan that may include dietary and lifestyle recommendations.
Your acupuncture experience
Visiting any new clinic can feel daunting, so at Acupuncture Wokingham we make every effort to put you at ease from the moment you arrive. Your acupuncturist will listen carefully to your concerns, answer any questions you have, and conduct a gentle, non-invasive health assessment involving tongue and pulse diagnosis.
Once the assessment is complete, Dr (TCM) D'Alberto will provide a detailed diagnosis and prescribe a course of treatment personalised to your specific needs. If this is your first experience of acupuncture, he will talk you through exactly what to expect before any needles are placed.
Once treatment begins, you will likely be surprised by how relaxing and entirely painless the experience is. Many patients fall asleep during sessions.
